2002, colour, 35 mm, 107 min

Light-hearted musical film is an adaptation of the successful TV series of the same name, written by Annie M.G. Schmidt along with composer Harry Bannink in 1965. The story is set in a neat little street against the backdrop of the sixties. Loes Luca is nurse Klivia, holding sway in a nursing home over the nervous Jet, `the engineer' and the quarrelling Bertus and Bobby. The noisy company is a thorn in the flesh of the sulky neighbour Boordevol (Paul Kooij). He tries everything to have Klivia and her rowdies evicted for the umpteenth time, but to no avail. Until Boordevol's apartment is broken into shortly after nurse Klivia has taken pity on burglar Gerrit. Grist to the neighbour's mill, who seizes the opportunity. An invention by the engineer, however, makes Boordevol turn like a leaf on a tree.

Yuri Honing Jazz Trio
January 26, 2004 19.30 - 21.30
Erasmus Huis

Yuri Honing Jazz Trio

Since 1990 this group has become one of the most succesful Dutch groups from the new generation. Touring through more than 15 countries around the world built up a unique personal style that is based on communication, curiosity, and friendship. The trio is influenced by a wide variety of musical styles and is always pushing ahead to keep their music as vivid and actual possible.

Each member of the trio contributes equally to the sound of the group. Drummer Joost Lijbaart synthesizes African drumming with contemporary drum styles and is melodically as important as the others. Tony Overwater has a unique way of playing acoustic bass using the whole instrument (not only the strings) to build a wide variety of accompaniments for the trio compositions. Yuri Honing doesn’t play saxophone but he sings saxophone, with his strong lyrical sound he tells stories that live in the constructions built by the rhythm section.

The trio defines jazz not as a style but as a language.
